"What Brings Joy?" by Noor Sager

Image Description: Stack of books with cup of coffee in sunlight

The smell of new books and fresh ink,

Sentences that start with, “I thought of you earlier today…”

Early mornings before the sun’s up,

Google docs pages that have so many words, they take too long to load,

A checked off to-do list,

Homemade coffee with too much sugar,

Days like this with a cold chill but a bright sun,

Early 2000s love songs,

Victorian dresses,

Hopeful summer plans with friends,

A full calendar,

Citrus candies,

Hugs from people I love,

Laughing so hard my stomach hurts,

Staying up too late on phone calls

Noor Sager is a sixteen-year-old sophomore at Gorham High School. A love for reading led her to try out writing; a love of words led to aspirations of becoming a full-time author. Joining The Telling Room helped start the journey to making those aspirations a reality, and to explore all the ways words can be written. Noor finds fulfillment in using words to create stories of daring quests and flashy magic. When not writing or reading, Noor can usually be found practicing Color Guard tosses or staring wistfully at a wall, lost in a daydream.
