The Telling Room staff would like to thank every one of the hundreds of people that joined us at Space Gallery for our anthology release event. The chance to share a year's worth of hard work with so many enthusiastic supporters has provided us renewed energy and focus for the coming year. To the many students, parents, volunteers, and supporters, our most heartfelt thanks for your involvement with our organization. We can't wait for our next project to begin! More photos here.

Shadow Puppets Workshop

On consecutive Saturdays this March, students brought new life and color to the familiar children's classic, Where the Wild Things Are, by adding unexpected twists, turns, and surprises. They then created an original shadow puppet play to tell their revised version of the story. The workshop culminated with a performance for friends and family at The Telling Room. Who We Are
The Telling Room is a nonprofit writing program in Portland, Maine, dedicated to young writers and storytellers between the ages of 8 and 18. Our goal is simple: To meet each student's passion for writing with equal enthusiasm, to provide role models for those looking to further their writing, and to honor the act of storytelling as a vital means of expression and community building.

Come see us at our Writing Center at 225 Commercial Street in downtown Portland. It is the hub for workshops, tutoring, and storytelling field trips. Come down anytime and check out what we're doing, and, as ever, all of our programming is free.
