Kelsey Conroy believes in the power of words–the way writing can transform your perception of yourself, others, and the world around you. At the Telling Room, she has had the privilege of witnessing just that. Kelsey is a rising senior at Colby College in Waterville, where she studies English, creative writing, and education; at the Telling Room, she integrates this trifecta with the magic that occurs when students begin to believe in their potential and recognize that their experiences are meaningful, significant, and somehow worth sharing.
She discovered the Telling Room during her senior year of high school when, as editor-in-chief of the literary magazine, she envisioned a Greater Portland Literary Arts Day for local high school youth. The Telling Room helped her realize this dream by co-sponsoring the event. Since then, she’s returned to the Telling Room to assist in various ways—with anything from field trips and camps to administrative tasks. Fueled by the zeal of those around her, Kelsey savors the small moments when students discover that, often, when we take the risk to become vulnerable, we experience the greatest reward.
