Eliza Stinneford

A native Mainer, Eliza Stinneford graduated from Keene State College in 2010 with a degree in journalism and has been living in Portland for the past two years. “A year after moving to Portland, I found the Telling Room-or rather it found me. Through a long chain of friend of a friend of a friend connections, I’d heard about the Telling Room and decided it was at least worth checking out. I attended a volunteer orientation and never wanted to leave. So I didn’t. I was amazed by how many opportunities there were to get involved and it happened that the Wednesday afternoon “WordPLAY” fit into my schedule. What I didn’t know then was that it would be the perfect mid-week pick-me-up.” Eliza started volunteering for the Telling Room in the fall of 2011, primarily helping out on WordPLAY Wednesdays. She has also participated in TR workshops and residencies at Mahoney Middle School and Memorial Middle School. “I have done everything from color t-shirts for Cultivating Community, to help high school seniors write their college application essays. I have been given the opportunity to be involved with and help more children than I ever thought I would.”
