I Never Saw Anybody

By: Lindsey Daggett

I never saw anybody give change to a homeless man.

I never saw anybody dance around in the streets,

Hoping somebody would join in.

I once thought I saw a dog eating a cat.

Who would make up such a myth?

I want to see the sun and moon together,

Shining in the same sky.

I never saw anybody joining hands in city square.

I want to see a mermaid singing her song,

Hoping the dolphins would sing along.

I hope to eat a lemon and not have my face pucker.

I want to wear a Band-Aid without being injured.

I never saw anybody run for cover from clowns.

I never saw anybody be honest about getting too much change.

I once saw a fish do a backflip.

I want to do a backflip.

I never saw anybody quite like me.
