Dima Matta is a Lebanese Fulbright scholar studying for her MFA in Creative Writing at Rutgers University. She received her undergraduate degree in English Literature at Haigazian University in Beirut. She has also been active in the theater scene in Lebanon and acting in plays for the past six years. She writes about her home country and hopes to open the first non-profit writing center for youth there. She heard about the Telling Room at the AWP conference in Chicago and found it to be an ideal example of the kind of organization she would like to build back home. So she got in touch and traveled to Portland to volunteer here for a month and learn.
